Care and Cleaning

No set timetable exists for when your canvas should be cleaned, the marine environment you expose your vessel to has a great deal to do with determing the frequency of cleaning. Cleaning is required less in a dry environment than a moist one. One of the best ways to keep Sunbrella Fabrics looking good and to delay the need for deep and vigorous cleanings is to hose the canvas off on a monthly basis with clear water. This practice will help prevent dirt from becoming deeply imbedded in the fabric and eliminate the need for more vigorous cleanings. In most environments the need for thourough vigourous cleaning will be around every two to three years.  

When its time for cleaning, Sunbrella Canvas can be cleaned while still on the boat or frame or size permitting removed for cleaning. When cleaning Sunbrella Canvas ALWAYS use a natural soap (like dishwashing liquid) and NEVER DETERGENT. Water should be COLD to lukewarm. NEVER more than 100 degrees. AIR DRY ONLY never apply heat to Sunbrella Canvas. When cleaning Sunbrella Canvas the following steps should be taken in the folowing order brush off loose dirt, hose down with clear water, prepare cleaning mixture of natural soap and water, use soft bristle brush to clean, allow soap to soak in, rinse thouroughly with clear water and finally allow to air dry only. Following these instructions and tips will allow you to have many years of enjoyment on your Sunbrella Canvas product aboard your precious vessel.
